Step-by-step guide

⏰ Time: 5 minutes

In Asters, when you create a post with link(s), for Facebook, LinkedIn and X, a link preview is displayed, (see article Post with link preview)

The preview summarizes the content with a title, description, and thumbnail. In Asters you can edit link previews by clicking on the pencil symbol.

Here you can make changes and then click Save

📌 Note

Each social network extracts link previews differently, so they may appear different on each social network.

Facebook

To create a link preview, Facebook extracts the meta tags of the open graph (e.g., og:image) from the website. If these tags are missing or incomplete, Facebook attempts to fill in the blanks with the available data.

Preview and troubleshoot links: Enter a link into the Facebook Debugger to preview its final appearance on Facebook. The tool reports missing meta tags and any other corrections needed.

Optimize previews for your website - Visit A Guide to Sharing on Facebook to see if your website is set up to generate optimal link previews.

To customize Facebook post link previews, however, you must meet the following Facebook requirements:

⚠️ Important

In order to proceed with domain verification, you must have access to the domain of the website you want to verify on Facebook.

Facebook introduced domain verification to help reduce the spread of fake news. It ensures that only the owner of a domain can change the way its content appears on Facebook.

X

X displays link previews in posts only when the link website has enabled Cards. To verify that the site you are linking to has an X Card, enter the link into the X Card validator. Learn more about X Cards and how to add them to your website.

To ensure that your post contains an image, you can attach the image you want or select the images suggested by the link. Attaching an image will overwrite the preview if the link has an X Card. The published post will contain a clickable link and a separately uploaded image.

Abbreviated YouTube or Vimeo links show a preview of the clickable link on X.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn creates a link preview based on the data it pulls from each website. Enter a link into LinkedIn's Post Inspector to see how it will be read and processed.

The tool helps identify missing data on a page that could improve the link preview.
